South by Southwest features a variety of tracks that allows attendees to explore what’s next in the world of film, culture, music, and technology. SXSW proves that the most unexpected discoveries happen when the diverse topics and the people come together. One unified conference that spanned 24 tracks of programming offered many opportunities for networking, learning, and discovery.
Amongst many sessions, there was a session on Art of Screen Time, Anya Kamenets, a journalist, an award-winning expert on both education and technology and a mother took a refreshingly practical approach. She shared that the biggest concern is that children are going to develop a problematic relationship with media. They will get overly attached. She said that media has played a role in our life that has been intrusive, distracting and did things that they didn’t want it to do.
Sound Ventures co-founders Ashton Kutcher and Guy Oseary were joined by guest judges Matthew McConaughey, Marc Benioff Chairman and CEO of Salesforce, Melody McCloskey CEO of Styleseat for Perfect Pitch Sound Ventures. As entrepreneurs pitched their ideas competing for the cheque of $100,000, winning idea from LearnLux took home the surprise investment of $400,000.
The participants appreciated the judges for their decision and commended the pitches made during the event. The conference was full of enlightening and inspiring sessions, film screening, meetups, showcases, exhibitions and ample opportunities for networking.
