American Sikh Caucus Committee hosted Vaisakhi celebration at Capitol Hill, Washington DC with members of US Congress and American Sikh Congressional Caucus. Harpreet Singh Sandhu shared that Caucus talked about issues of the Sikhs and concerns at the US be it hate crime or school bullying or people who serve at the US Arm Forces.
Chairman of Sikh Caucus in the US welcomed the Sikh community to Washington D.C. to celebrate spring. He shared that Sikh community has had a major impact in Washington DC on many important policy issues dealing from the military and participation of Sikh community in their traditional dress in the military, also making sure that the Sikh communities are not facing discrimination of any kind including violence.
Dignitaries graced this joyous occasion and presented a special citation. Vaisakhi is celebrated in Punjab region of South Asia for centuries and is also celebrated in communities in India, throughout the US and around the world.
