Ecumenical Council of Kerala Churches has initiated the Christmas Celebrations on 9th Dec 2017.  It's the first day of Celebration and this year happens to be the 34th Year of their celebration in collaboration with all the churches of Chicago area. Archbishop Mor Titus Yeldho had kick-started the event for Christmas Celebrations and wished everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Christmas is an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, observed most commonly on December 25 as a religious and cultural celebration among billions of people around the world.

Christ was born 2000 years back, and we want to keep him alive in our hearts is the key theme for this year’ Christmas Celebration. Ecumenical Council of Kerala Churches in Chicago is a notion evolved out of our cultural identity, shared traditions and the culture of the Kerala Christians in North America. The member Churches comprise of Syro Malabar Catholic, Malankara Catholic, Knanaya Catholic, Orthodox, Jacobite, Marthoma and CSI congregations. Our Vicar Rev. Abraham Scaria serves currently as the President of the Council. Our Associate Vicar Re, George Varghese also provides leadership in various capacities. Moreover, elected members from each parish give direction to the programs of the Councils Carols. The vision for the ecumenical movement is to grow as an independent body providing a common ground or platform in religious, social and cultural areas, keeping individual identities but working towards the collective spiritual growth.
