While celebrating the “International Yoga Day,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated via video link “YO1 Luxury Nature Cure Centre” in Monticello in the Catskills in upstate New York on June 21. YO1, the first-of-its-kind nature cure destination in the US, is the brainchild of Rajya Sabha MP and Essel Group Chairman Subhash Chandra.
Modi’s telecast was viewed at YO1 by Chandra, US and local lawmakers and several prominent members of the Indian American community, including leading hotelier Sant Singh Chatwal and TV Asia chairman and CEO, H R Shah.
In his address, Modi said he hoped that yoga can become a “binding force” for the world, asserting it has no religion and contributes to the physical and mental well-being of individuals.
Modi appreciated the opening of the YO1 center, saying that it will create about 2,000 direct and indirect jobs in the area, adding that the facility will also work to bring the benefit of yoga to patrons and contribute significantly to the wellness movement in the US.
Chandra said the launch of the center was a dream come true for him. The center, he added, was built as a state-of-art facility and will be a wellness destination offering therapies based on ancient Indian yoga and Pranayam.
