TV Asia hosts live interactive session with actor Anupam Kher

Award-winning actor Anupam Kher was at TV Asia studio in Edison, NJ on March 27 and appeared on the channel’s Focus Live show that was aired live nationwide and simultaneously streamed on Facebook.

He was welcomed by TV Asia chairman and CEO, Padma Shri H R Shah and more than 150 guests present for the live taping.

During the 90-minute interactive live call-in show, Kher spoke about his upcoming movie “Hotel Mumbai,” based on the 2008 terror attacks on the Taj Hotel in India’s financial capital. Kher is currently based in New York, shooting for NBC TV series, “New Amsterdam.”

Eloquent, suave and humble, Kher, 64, patiently answered questions from call-in viewers as well as many in the studio audience and took time to meet TV Asia staff. Kher posted a brief video on Instagram about his interaction.

Narrating his experience about shooting for “Hotel Mumbai,” he said “it’s a story of compassion, it’s a story of ordinary heroism, apart from great, unbelievable tragedy,” “It’s important to tell people what happened and how other people came out of nowhere and became unlikely heroes,” he added on the show.

Kher said he believes the film will resonate with audiences because it shows how normal people from all walks of life demonstrate solidarity and band together in a time of crisis.

“Togetherness sometimes comes out of tragedy,” Kher said.

Hotel Mumbai releases nationwide in the US on March 29.
