AAHOA annual convention begins in San Diego, CA

The 3-day annual convention and trade show of the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) begins today at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, CA.

This year is the 30th anniversary for the convention and more than 8,100 hoteliers and hospitality-industry professionals are expected to attend. There will be nearly 800 booths on the trade show floor, and on-site conferences for women hoteliers, independent hoteliers, and young professional hoteliers.

Among the speakers at the convention are Khan Academy founder Sal Khan, former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, Mike Abrashoff, and Acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney.

“As we mark AAHOA’s 30th anniversary, we are fortunate to have innovators and thought leaders such as Sal Khan, Carly Fiorina, Mike Abrashoff, and Mick Mulvaney address our convention,” said Interim President and CEO Rachel Humphrey. “At every convention, we strive to provide our members with speakers drawn from a diverse and insightful group of accomplished leaders, and this year is no exception.”

On the evening of April 25, Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam will perform an exclusive show for AAHOA conventioneers. Joining him on stage will be his longtime friend Jonita Gandhi.

“We could not be more excited about this year’s convention,” said AAHOA chairman Hitesh (HP) Patel and Jagruti Panwala, AAHOA vice chairwoman and convention committee chairwoman. Panwala is to be sworn in as AAHOA’s first chairwoman during the convention.
