Dr Nagendra Gupta, a Board Certified Internist in Texas, has been appointed to the American Board of International Medicine’s (ABIM) Internal Medicine Board.
Specialty Board members work with physicians and medical societies to develop Board Certification and Maintenance Certification credentials recognizing physicians for their commitment to staying within their current field.
The Board consists of a diverse range of practice types and members who provide multiple perspectives on patient care.
Dr Gupta serves as the Program Director of the Hospitalist Program at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital, leading a team of more than 20 physicians who oversee the care for 200 hospitalized patients daily.
Additionally, Dr Gupta works closely with the Society of Hospital Medicine, as their vice president for the North Central Texas Chapter.
Richard J. Baron, president and CEO of ABIM, said in a media release that the addition of Dr Gupta will add to the Board in exciting new ways.
“Specialty Board members are on the front lines of innovations at ABIM and work closely with doctors in their specialty to create standards-driven assessments that are more reflective of the pace of change in medical practice,” he said. “New members like Dr Gupta will bring the expertise and practice experience they have gained in their field to inform exciting new enhancements to Board Certification and Maintenance of Certification.”
Dr Gupta earned his medical degree from the Osmania Medical College in India and completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Texas Tech University in 2013. In addition to his other roles, he is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He is a recipient of multiple awards including an award for the Best New Program in 2018 from Apogee Physicians.
