Karan Johar who snapped up rights of Baahubali for a huge price has now taken rights of another film. It is a regional Marathi film which is also the biggest hit ever in the language.

It should be an easy guess by now. The film is nothing but Sairat which took the Marathi film industry by storm. This teenage love story set against a realistic backdrop was a sensation like never seen before in Marathi cinema. Already remake rights of the film have been bought in Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam.

Zee who produced the original will co-produce the remake. A Dharma Productions protégée would be directing the film. Let’s see if they can get this remake right.
