Jaipur Foot awards patrons; is recognized at the UN

The Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS), also known as the Jaipur Foot, was lauded for its humanitarian work, at a panel discussion, “50 Years of Jaipur Foot and Lessons Learned-Helping People With Disabilities,” held at the United Nations in NY on May 15.

The discussion was followed by an exhibition at the UN tracing the 50 years of the BMVSS.

In attendance were India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Syed Akbaruddin; Indian Council for Cultural Relations president and BJP Member of Parliament Vinay Sahasrabuddhe; Jaipur Foot USA chairman Prem Bhandari; Rajya Sabha Chief Whip Narayan Lal Panchariya; BMVSS founder Devendra Raj Mehta; India’s Consul General in NY Sandeep Chakravorty; and India’s former Ambassador to Kuwait Satish Mehta.

Among other invited guests, were H R Shah, TV Asia chairman and CEO and Suresh Venkatachari, chairman 8K Miles Media, who were also recognized at a Jaipur Foot event a day earlier at the Indian Consulate in NY.
