Several Republican and Democratic lawmakers from the US Congress heaped praise on India and Indian Americans at a Congressional reception hosted by the US-India Friendship Council on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC.
The event, spearheaded by community stalwart Swadesh Chatterjee and supported by the Indian Embassy in Washington, drew a number of Indian American activists to the Senate Russell Building. At the reception, Indian Ambassador to the US, Harsh Vardhan Shringla emphasized that India-US ties were “based on mutually beneficial trade and economic relations underpinned by the strong community that we have here.”
